Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Wikipedia race (wiki race)?
A wiki race, also called the Wiki Game, a wikirace or a Wikipedia speedrun, is a game where players start on one Wikipedia article and try to reach a target article by clicking only the links inside the articles. Wikissey runs wiki races live, with several players at once.
Can I play the Wiki Game with friends online?
Yes. Create a game on Wikissey, share the 6-character join code or the link, and up to 8 players race the same pair of pages at the same time. A game has 1 to 10 races, each lasting 1, 3, 5 or 30 minutes.
What is Today's Odyssey?
Today's Odyssey is Wikissey's daily Wikipedia challenge: one start page and one target page a day, the same for everyone. It is a solo run with a 5-minute limit, and you can play it without an account. Each past day's page shows how many players raced and the shortest known path.
Which Wikipedia languages can I race on?
English and French Wikipedia. The interface is also available in English and French.
How does Wikissey keep races fair?
There is no search bar during a race, and the server checks every click: you can only move to a page that the current article links to.
How do I report a bug?
You can report bugs directly through our Discord server in the #bug-reports channel, or send us an email with a detailed description and screenshots if possible.
Is Wikissey free to play?
Yes! Wikissey is completely free to play. We may introduce cosmetic items in the future, but core gameplay will always be free.
Can I play on mobile?
Absolutely. Wikissey is fully optimized for mobile browsers so you can race on the go.
